 For Tube & Vial Handlers

Our XL Work List Manager Software powers all tube handling operations of the XL9, XL20, XL100 & XL200 instruments and enables integration with LIMS and other laboratory robotics. The Windows based application accepts commands via input files, provides post-processing output files, and includes controls for system settings and error handling. 

BioMicroLab also provides alternate APIs called ActiveX and SDK toolkits to allow options for creating a unique user interface, controlling the input and output file data stream, and for integrating with other robotics such as liquid handling systems or robotic arms.

Labeling

Instruments equipped with the XL LabelPro labeling module can design labels and launch labeling projects directly inside the XL Work List Manager Software. Users can print the same data on all labels or variable data on each label. Project based workflow makes it easy to repeat previous labeling jobs. Design your label with 1D linear barcode, 2D data matrix barcodes, human readable text, jpegs, and logos!

Liquid Transfer

Platforms equipped with the Liquid Handling module include BioMicroLab’s XL Plus Software which provides greater flexibility for liquid handling operations. Editable XML scripts control robotic functions (e.g. multiple labware types, tip usage, and tip disposal) along with input work lists to manage sample transfer volumes. Operator-defined script files, input files and output files allow for numerous types of liquid handling applications and provide programming flexibility for many years of use.

  • XL Plus is a script oriented software that allows end-users to generate commands to automate
    specific tasks handled by the XL Series system including liquid handling, barcode reading, weighing (balance), and decapping.
  • The XL Plus scripts are XML based.  
  • Compatible with Windows 10, 8 and 7 32/64 bit.
Software Toolkits for Integration

ActiveX / SDK Toolkits

BioMicroLab provides an additional tool for labs planning to develop custom programs to control the instrument operation or integrate the BioMicroLab system with other laboratory equipment, databases or software systems. We offer two Software Developer Toolkits (DLL Libraries: SDK and ActiveX) for your projects.

  • Streamline processing of input and output data

  • Integrate BioMicroLab’s system into a larger process, workflow or biocel
  • Both toolkits are compatible with all XL Series models

SDK Toolkit: Includes Dynamic Load (DLL). To illustrate the DLL usage, the SDK Toolkit includes C++ demo programs with source code and a Virtual Basic demo project. Compatible with Windows 10, 8 and 7 32/64 bit.

ActiveX Toolkit: Includes Dynamic-Link Library (DLL) which provides a list of methods for controlling the instrument. The ActiveX Toolkit has example programs and code for: Visual Basic and C/C++. Compatible with Windows 10, 8 and 7 32/64 bit.

The VolumeCheck software calibration wizard assists the user in efficiently creating the reference curve, which is known volume vs. distance measure to the meniscus for a given sample. Many reference curves can be stored, making it easy to switch between sample types and different types of labware.

The VolumeCheck is compatible with a wide variety of common labware.  System resolution can be optimized when plates are centrifuged, any dimensional variation in consumable is minimized, and reference curves most closely represent sample type scanned. The VolumeCheck returns a higher resolution with low volume plates vs. higher volume plates (PCR plates vs. 2.2mL deep well plates).

The VolumeCheck™ software user interface is designed for quality control applications, with a colorful display that is easy to analyze by operators. Operators can choose to scan rows, columns or entire racks for efficient throughput. Calibration tools are included to maximize resolution of different sample types and the project-based software makes it easy to repeat prior scanning jobs.

 For SampleScan Barcode Readers

The SampleScan systems scan, decode and output the unique ID number encoded in the two-dimensional barcode on the bottom of the sample tubes and the one-dimensional barcode on the side of the rack. The user-friendly software display makes it easy for the technician to confirm successful scans and to generate output files to connect to LIMS or other systems.

The software captures the 2D barcode image, decodes the barcode(s), and outputs the data in a user configurable .csv (excel-like) file format for easy use with your sample database system. New TCP mode allows for direct scan networking mode.
